If
you have sailing experience you can hire our Drascombe Lugger which
was built by Churchouse Boats in 2007. The boat is available from
Baltimore, West Cork, Ireland. It is in as-new condition having
been only lightly used during 2007. Comes with a road trailer and
5HP Honda 4 stroke Outboard Motor. The boat is always immaculately
maintained and presented.
The Drascombe Lugger is a safe family
boat for sailing, motoring or rowing. Certified for 6 adults of
average weight 75 KG. Perfect for running up on a beach as it draws
only 10 inches of water with keel up and four feet when sailing.
Length 18'9", Beam 6'3".
Don't forget Drascombe Rally
Baltimore 7th to 10th Aug 2008
If the weather is suitable you can
sail to the larger islands of Sherkin (1 mile), Hare Island (2.5
miles), Cape Clear (7 miles) or Long Island (10 miles). If you prefer
sailing to uninhabitated islands with quiet beaches you have a huge
choice, the most popular would be the Skeam islands (3 miles), the
Calf islands (5.5 miles), Horse Island (4.5 miles) and Carthys Islands
(6 miles) to name but a few. If conditions are right you can also
sail around the world famous Fastnet Rock (11.5 Miles). The Drascombe
Rally usually sail around the Fastnet rock. If you would like to
do it in company this could be your chance.
A very nice journey is up the Ilen
river to Skibbereen and land in the heart of the town when the tide
is right. If you are doing this trip you will have to lower the
mast to get into the town as there are two bridges to get under.
This trip is 9 miles from Baltimore to Skibbereen. The scenery is
stunning and on leaving Baltimore you will sail by Sherkin island,
Spanish Island, Sandy island, Quarantine Island, Reengaroga Island,
and Inishbeg Island. You will pass two boatyards and a pub in Oldcourt.
Further on you will pass Skibbereen rowing club. Soon after the
rowing club you will come to a quay (Deelish quay). Here you have
a choice of either leaving the boat at the quay and walking about
1 mile to Skibbereen or taking down the mast and motoring into the
town. From Deelish Quay to Skibbereen you will need a spring tide.

Baltimore year after year are always discovering new places. We

you will see that you have found that place.
